Many of you have probably already gotten the notification from META about the merging of our pages and Instagram accounts… but, here is what they don’t tell you…
Meta’s new business terms kick in October 30.
The short version: if you use Facebook or Instagram for your band, your label, or your shop, Meta gets the right to crawl the websites tied to you and train its AI on what it finds. Your music pages, your store, your press kit. There’s no opt out. You agree by continuing to use the platform.
They’ve also been testing limits on how many posts with links you can share unless you pay.
So the deal for independent artists is basically: pay up or lose reach, and either way your work feeds the machine.
We’re not playing along. Morella’s sites are blocked from Meta’s AI crawler, and our energy is going into what we own: our websites, our mailing list, our music on Bandcamp. That’s where to find us.
Check your own site’s robots.txt before the 30th. Support artists directly. Buy the record.
